Boruto has some skill in kenjutsu, as he effectively wields a new prototype Chakra Blade, and can efficiently wield half of Hiramekarei. Later, he proved proficient in wielding a standard katana as his preferred combat method.
After a crude solution was made from Naruto using his chakra to synchronise Kawaki with the new prosthetic, the boy began opening up more with Boruto, who introduced him to his friends. From this, Boruto and his friends began teaching him Extreme: Shinobi Picture Scrolls, where Kawaki gave Boruto an extremely rare Fourth Hokage card in exchange for a Seventh Hokage card. Boruto and his friends also began teaching him about ninjutsu when he took an interest in it.
Iwabe Yuino, one of Boruto's classmates, picks a fight with him. Iwabe is an older student who has a keen sense for battle, but was held back a year for his bad behavior. At first, Boruto ignores him pelo matter what he says. But when he sees Iwabe punch Denki for telling him to stop, Boruto can't ignore him any longer.
In the anime, Boruto took care of Himawari when she became ill. After arguing with Naruto about Himawari's dinner, the two are kicked out the house by Hinata. Boruto, Shikadai and Mitsuki arrive at the location they are told to go to by Shino. They notice their teacher is acting different than he usually does— and Shino suddenly attacks them!
After defeating Momoshiki, Boruto received a seal on his right hand in the shape of a diamond. Once activated, it greatly boosts his physical parameters and also lets Boruto absorb other techniques, like fūinjutsu and nature transformation.

Team 7 is given a mission to capture a gang of thieves targeting the Thunder Train, who are hiding out in a town near the Land of Fire's border.
Mitsuki then revealed he knew who the culprit was. Mitsuki claimed that it was Sumire. While Boruto rebuffed such a claim, he explained the nature of his investigation. Suddenly, there was a large earthquake, followed by the emergence of the Ghost, now in a tangible form, which attacked the village. Boruto quickly rushed off to help. Mitsuki told Boruto that they can stop the creature if they kill the summoner. Boruto refused to kill his friend, prompting Mitsuki to restrain him with a snake clone, which he defeats after Mitsuki leaves.
